Cant make “submit lead form” as account default goal? Google Ads

Recently, I saw that one of my campaigns from my clients didn’t get tracked
according to it should be. The conversions didn’t show up in the campaign but when I added the all conv. column it did show the conversion.

After long browsing on google. I couldn’t find any useful information about what it could have been. So, I looked into the client’s account and did a deep dive into everything that is related to the conversion.

  • I checked the tags.
  • I checked the campaign settings
  • I checked the conversion goal details.

And then I saw an article stating that conversions are only tracked when it’s a primary action. So, I checked the action optimisation and found this.

The action optimisation was set on primary action but as the notification stated the ‘Submit lead form’ isn’t an account default goal.

Meaning, it wasn’t tracked for conversion..

So, How can you set ‘submit lead form’ to account default goal?

It’s actually easy once you have done it once.

First navigate to your goals and then click on the conversion summary.

You will now see an overview of all your conversion goals.

Click on edit goals.

Change the setting from “Do not use ‘Submit Lead Form’ as an account-default goal” to “Use ‘Submit Lead Form’ as an account-default goal.”

Once updated, simply click “Save.” From now on, your form submissions will be tracked as part of the conversion column and recognized as an account-default goal.
